Everyday Legal Grants
Assistance to deliver small projects that support community legal need and improve understanding of the justice system.
In 2023 we renamed our Small Grants to Everyday Legal Grants to better describe the types of projects we fund. Eligibility and criteria remain the same.
Up to $5,000
Applications are now open
Everyday Legal Grants help community legal organisations and not-for-profit community groups to deliver projects that support community needs and improve understanding of the justice system.
Our Everyday Legal Grants can be used to fund:
- one-off projects addressing civil legal issues for a specific community, such as a resource or tool
- pilot projects offering new approaches to delivering civil legal information or navigate the Victorian justice system.
Grant guidelines
In addition to meeting the object of Victoria Law Foundation and our grant aims, priority will be given to applications that can demonstrate the guiding principles:
Evidence
Evidence of legal need and a good case that the response is likely to make a difference.
Impact
Projects that have potential to reach significant audiences – this could be a broad audience on a current legal issue, or responding to need for a specific group of Victorians.
Eligibility
Everyday Legal Grant applications are open to community legal organisations and not-for-profit community organisations.
Eligible organisations include community legal centres, community organisations with an internal legal service or a not-for-profit organisation in partnership with a legal service.
Non-legal organisations are required to partner with an organisation with suitable legal expertise to ensure accurate legal information is provided to the audience group.
We only fund organisations – individuals are not able to apply.
Victorian Law Week events
VLF no longer offer a Law Week grant program. Contact our Events team to discuss how we might be able to support you to deliver an event.
Application Timeline
Applications open July 1 2023 and can be made at any time.
