Legal Laneway Breakfast
We begin the legal year with a legal sector breakfast in Melbourne’s iconic Hardware Lane.
Join some of Victoria’s key legal minds and meet with people from across the sector.
The Legal Laneway Breakfast is open to all members of Victoria’s legal community, with breakfast provided by local restaurants.
The 20th Legal Laneway Breakfast opens the new legal year
The legal community turned out in force to usher in the new professional year, hearing from Attorney General Jaclyn Symes MP and others on the priorities before us.
A moving Acknowledgment of Country, a discussion on balancing legal careers and caring responsibilities, and gender issues in the profession were all on the agenda at the 20th Legal Laneway Breakfast.

Legal Laneway Breakfast 2023 speakers
Attorney-General Jaclyn Symes MP and Victorian Legal Services Board CEO and Commissioner Fiona McLeay join us to discuss what’s in store for 2023 and beyond, and to mark the 20th anniversary of the event, which has always aimed for diversity and accessibility, we’re hosting a special discussion with the Honourable Justice Jacinta Forbes and Jacob Varghese, CEO of Maurice Blackburn Lawyers, on their experiences and insights on balancing caring responsibilities with a career in law. How times have changed!
The inaugural Ballarat Legal Laneway Breakfast
In 2023, the inaugural Ballarat Legal Laneway Breakfast was hosted by Ballarat & Grampians Community Legal Service (BGCLS), in partnership with Victoria Law Foundation (VLF) and the Ballarat & District Law Association.
The special event celebrates 20 years of the Legal Laneway Breakfast in Melbourne and Ballarat hosts its first regional Legal Laneway Breakfast.
Legal professionals from the Ballarat region gathered at "Hop Lane" to hear from guest speakers including VLF Executive Director Lynne Haultain, while enjoying breakfast supplied by Hop Temple.

Fundraising for Women and Mentoring
This year the Legal Laneway Breakfast is fundraising for Women and Mentoring (WAM).
WAM offer a unique, early intervention program that supports women in contact with the legal system by matching them with a supportive mentor. The volunteer mentors are trained and resourced to provide appropriate support to the program participants, to share their skills and to contribute to the wider community.
We encourage all attendees, colleagues, and friends to make a donation.
